Brief Bio and Publications

I am currently the director of the NIH-funded Center for American Indian and Rural Health Excellence (CAIRHE) at Montana State University, focusing on building research partnerships with rural and Native American communities and mentoring junior investigators. I promote family and community health and wellness by combining scientific rigor with crucial community knowledge. The foundation of my work is community-based participatory research, working in partnership with Indigenous communities to understand and address health challenges by integrating scientific rigor with crucial community knowledge. Our work focuses on the promotion of family and community wellness and healing trauma through community building. I use storytelling, filmmaking, and other outreach strategies to engage communities and impact health.
